Winter climbing
Winter climbing is what we do best. We are local, we know the West and Northwest Highlands and Ben nevis is our home mountain! Ice climbing courses, winter climbing courses, we have it all.
If you want to climb that grade V or VI, want to sort out your mixed technique, or want to start to learn to lead and look at protecting winter routes, then Mountain Motion can help you acheive all this under expert guidance. Our winter climbing courses and ice climbing courses will take your current abilities and develop them so that you can climb harder and safer in the winter. All courses assume some winter mountaineering experience and / or some summer climbing experience. Winter climbing courses and ice climbing courses vary in difficulty. If in doubt give us a call. We will advise and discuss all aspects with you. All our climbing courses work at 1:2 ratio maximum to give you the best coaching.
Intro winter climbing
A five day course, aimed at getting you climbing confidently on grade II / III routes. Focusing on moving fluidly on grade II ground, placing winter protection and setting up sound belays. Stance management is also an important aspect as well as snow and avalanche awareness.

Winter leading clinic
For seconds who want to learn about taking the sharp end, or leaders who want to make sure that they lead with confidence. This focuses on rope systems. placing winter protection and getting all the pro a route has to offer as well as competent movement when leading.
Cost: £300 Dates: 7th - 9th March 2012
Push your grade
A three day course, this is a personally focused clinic. We will get you climbing faster and harder, looking at your technique and equipment. This may involve secondinghard routes or work-shopping mixed or ice problems. Some leading may be involved.

Torque and turf!
A three day course. Mixed climbing! What's it all about? Whether you want to develop this side of your game or front pointing on wee bits of iced up rock is all new to you. We will focus on the techniques involved in tackling hard routes. Gain a new way of looking at how to use your tools!

Ice is nice
A three day course. Steep ice, that's what this is all about. How to place gear, rig belays and move confidently. Also looking at how to modify your own gear so ice becomes a joy and not a struggle.

Ben Nevis CIC hut week
A weeks course, Sunday eve through to Friday afternoon.
The North face of Ben nevis in March. Dripping with some of the best ice routes in the world, and ists all on our doorstep. Looking at technique on steep ice, but firmly focusde on climbing some of the classics, part teaching, part guiding. A fabulous experience.
We will stay in the CIC hut nestled at the foot of the North Face. Hut fee's are included. Contact Richard for details
