Mountain Motion. Walking group leader award courses in Scotland

Walking group leader award

This award is for leaders of walking groups in summer conditions in non-mountainous hilly terrain, known variously as upland, moor, bog, hill, fell or down. Such areas are often subject to harsh weather conditions, requiring an element of self-sufficiency and this scheme will help you develop the necessary skills and experience to lead groups in such terrain.

The courses involve practical time out on the hill along with discussions and presentations on syllabus topics.

More details of the award and how to register can be found on the MLTS website on the link above. The minimum number of participants required to run these courses is 4. Both training and assessment are usually three day courses although four day courses are also possible. Before attending a training course candidates should have logged a good range of hill walking experience. Details of this requirement are in the course syllabus.

We will arrange course accommodation in good self catering for those that need it. This cost is extra to the course fee's and should be paid direct by participants.

Lately, Mountain Motion has ran a lot of bespoke WGL courses for walking groups and clubs. If you wish details about us coming to run a course for your organisation please contact us. Mountain Motion are one of only a few approved providers in Scotland for this award. Our course details for 2006 are below.

As always, if you have any questions please feel free to contact us.
