Walking Group Leader Award
This award is for leaders of walking groups in summer conditions in non-mountainous hilly terrain, known variously as upland, moor, hill, fell or down. Such areas are often subject to harsh weather conditions, requiring an element of self-sufficiency and this scheme will help you develop the necessary skills and experinece to lead groups in such terrain. The course involves practical time out on the hill along with dicussions and presentations on syllabus topics.
More details of the award and how to register can be found on the MLT website on the link below. The minimum number to run a course is four. Both training and assessment are usually a three day or four day course. Before attending training course candidates should have logged a good range of hill walking experience. Details of this requirement are in the course syllabus.
We will arrange course accommodation in good quality self catering for those that wish it. This cost is extra to the course fee and should be paid direct to the accommodation.
Lately we have ran a lot of bespoke WGL courses for walking groups and clubs. If you wish to discuss us coming to run a course for you at your loctaion please contact us. Mountain Motion are one of only a few approved providers in Scotland for this award.
At the moment we are running courses on demand for the WGL, rather than have set course dates. Cost is generally £180 per person.
