Summer mountain leader award

This award scheme provides training and assessment in the technical and group management skills required by those who wish to lead groups in the mountains of the UK, other than in winter conditions. Unlike the WGL there is no terrain limitations although intended use of the rope to safeguard people is not within its remit.

The courses involve practical time on the hill including an overnight expedition, along with discussions and presentations on syllabus topics,. More details on the award and how to register can be found on the MLT website on the link below. The minimum number of people to run these courses is four. The training is a six day course and the assessment is ran over five days, with a three day expedition. Before attending a training course candidates should have logged a good range of mountain walking experience.

We will arrange course accommodation in good self catering for those that wish. This cost is extra to the course fees and should be paid directly to the accommodation.

If you wish us to come and run a course for your organisation then please contact us.
