Mountain leader award
This award scheme provides training and assessment in the technical and group management skills required by those who wish to lead groups in the mountains, hills and moorlands of the United Kingdom and Ireland, other than in winter conditions. Unlike the WGL award there is no terrain limitations although intended use of the rope to safeguard people is not within its remit.
The courses involve practical time out on the hill, including an overnight expedition, along with discussions and presentations on syllabus topics.
More details of the award and how to register can be found on the MLTS website on the link above. The minimum number of participants required to run these courses is 4. The training is a 6 day course and assessment is ran over 5 days. Before attending a training course candidates should have logged a good range of mountain walking experience. Details of this requirement is in the course syllabus.
We will arrange course accommodation in good self catering for those that need it. This cost is extra to the course fee's and should be paid direct by participants.
