Frustrating start to the Scottish winter climbing season
Dec 12, 2014
Ken and I headed in to Ben nevis today. I led him astray a bit I think and wanted to go and have a look at some potential new routes and do a bit of exploring. The outcome was a couple of pitches of average climbing and an abseil. The route will go, just not at the moment.
It was too thought provoking for a starter route to the season due to very icy choked cracks, thin verglassed rocks, and not a lot of gear. We will return later I think as it looks a nice wee line.
We are heading back in tomorrow to do something perhaps a bit more travelled so we can get the season properly kicked off!
Ken heading up the first pitch, he's just vanishing into a wee pokey chimney.
Exploring further up the route after we had left the main line to look around.
